Reduction or elimination of the bottom line cost of non-compliant documents is another. More and more companies understand the real value of these improvements. International pharmaceutical giant Boehringer Ingelheim selects ActiveDocs Opus to automate contract templates, test documentation: ActiveDocs software will streamline template and document management

Top-20 international pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim has chosen ActiveDocs Opus software for a worldwide implementation to improve template management and document automation, ActiveDocs announced today.

ActiveDocs Opus will be initially implemented by Boehringer Ingelheim's U.S. operations to automate the generation of standard contract and research documents and to manage the templates in use across the company. The implementation will start with two departments, with a planned rollout of the system to all departments.

Worrying about something as basic as having the current version of a document is as unproductive as it is unnecessary. Contract management can be effectively automated to eliminate low-value work like searching for documents while ensuring that everyone is using the most current information,” said Faine Mende, president of ActiveDocs North America.

ActiveDocs Opus is document automation and template management software built on Microsoft® technology. It facilitates the capture, assembly and delivery of content through a range of document channels, from hard copy, electronically, or in a sophisticated presentation format. ActiveDocs Opus' integrated template design process ensures that documents are accurate, complete, consistent and professionally presented.

ActiveDocs earns two Microsoft partnership distinctions for quality, customer service

ActiveDocs has earned two designations from Microsoft that place it among the software giant's elite independent software vendor partners, ActiveDocs announced today. The honors signify to customers that ActiveDocs software integrates effortlessly with the nearly ubiquitous Microsoft framework and delivers top performance.

ActiveDocs has retained Microsoft Gold Independent Software Vendor (ISV) status for the fifth consecutive year, placing it among a select number of software companies that meet exacting Microsoft quality control, auditing and customer service standards. Gold ISV status requires companies' products to go through an auditable approval process, pass one of four designated tests and receive recommendations from five customers. ActiveDocs has also been a member of Microsoft's Managed Partner Program for four years, an honor extended to fewer than 5 percent of the technology giant's 25,000 independent software vendor (ISV) partners.

Microsoft is the universal language of business IT. We've spent a lot of effort and resources to ensure that any customer with a Microsoft architecture supporting their business can implement ActiveDocs Opus without long, difficult integration projects,” said Glenn Ricketts, ActiveDocs CEO. “These distinctions from Microsoft are an official stamp demonstrating to customers that we fit smoothly into their existing Microsoft application infrastructures.

The two distinctions place ActiveDocs among the exclusive company of partners whose software integrates seamlessly with Microsoft's, and that exceed Microsoft's standards for quality control, auditing and customer service. ActiveDocs' Opus document automation and template management software is built on Microsoft's .NET framework. ActiveDocs will exhibit with partner Efficiency Leaders at the Australian Microsoft SharePoint conference in March, demonstrating its SharePoint integration.

Using customer feedback as a guide, ActiveDocs' development team identified bottlenecks that limited user performance. The team made modifications reducing the time needed to complete tasks by 30 to 80 percent. For example, users can expect to spend about 30 percent less time creating a moderately complex template in ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse than they did in earlier versions of the product. Document creation and system administration is also streamlined in ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse.

This leap in usability increases ActiveDocs Opus' value to organizations like ours that create complex documents using information from many different sources in many different formats,” according to a spokesperson for the Finnish Center for Pensions. “ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse keeps users working in their primary document creation interface rather than jumping to other applications. Those small savings in time and effort compound quickly into major savings when you're producing as many documents as we are.

ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse is the newest version of the ActiveDocs Opus document automation solution. ActiveDocs Opus is document automation and template management software built on Microsoft® technology. It captures and preserves corporate memory and facilitates the assembly and delivery of content through a range of document channels, including hard copy, electronic or presentation format.

Among the refinements in ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse is an updated document creation wizard interface with a new appearance and extensive new back-end functionality. Eclipse users can pull entire documents or parts of them into their working document through the document creation wizard, reformat and modify it, and insert it into the body of a document or as appendices.

ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse saves template authors significant time revising and modifying templates with a one-click 'run now' function for testing templates directly from the design interface. From the Content Manager interface, Eclipse designers can now select and compare versions of templates directly using Microsoft Word. That eliminates the extra steps of creating copies of new and existing templates in ActiveDocs Opus and Microsoft Word, and comparing them in Word. Eliminating the extra copies also reduces the chances for errors caused by old and inaccurate versions of templates lurking in the system.

Among its other major refinements, ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse includes:

  • new workflow rules for finer control over document handling procedures, such as retention policies
  • HTML support for creating fully formatted email
  • a module enabling Microsoft SharePoint users to create documents in Eclipse through their SharePoint interfaces
  • a refreshed free text editor that simplifies content formatting
  • system administration improvements such as end-to-end troubleshooting and a feature for automatically retrieving Windows events logs and turning them into reports

Since document automation emerged as its own market, solution providers have concentrated on expanding feature sets to reach the necessary functionality levels. Now that products have matured, users are looking for more refined products that perform essential functions more easily. That's what we've done with ActiveDocs Opus Eclipse,” said ActiveDocs CEO Glenn Ricketts. “We took a fresh look at how ActiveDocs Opus users want to interact with the software and what they need to accomplish. We removed barriers and unnecessary steps, and created a much easier pathway to the document automation and template management functionality they need to produce accurate documents quickly.

ActiveDocs releases New Directions Behavioral Health case study

International insurance company expands ActiveDocs Opus Viper implementation to produce 15 million documents per year, replaces manual template management, information searches with automated document system

A major international insurance company is expanding its ActiveDocs Opus Viper document automation software implementation to produce up to 15 million customer letters, policy statements and regulatory compliance reports per year, ActiveDocs announced today.

The insurance company is using ActiveDocs Opus Viper to replace document templates maintained at its regional offices across the globe. Consolidating templates in one platform gives all of the company's offices immediate access to updated document templates and standardizes templates across offices. The templates are incorporated into workflows that guide users through document creation processes and automatically draw the most current information from the insurance company's systems to create policy documents, eliminating manual data entry and the accompanying opportunities to make mistakes. The ActiveDocs Opus system also sharply reduces the time required to create policy documents by eliminating searches through multiple information systems. The company plans to increase its document production to 25 million annually with ActiveDocs Opus.

Glenn Ricketts, ActiveDocs CEO said: “Insurance policies are legally binding documents so there is no room for error when creating them. At the same time, the policies and the supporting documents are large and complex and lend themselves to errors common in manual document production. Automating their documents with ActiveDocs Opus removes the error-causing tasks from the document creation process. It also streamlines template management. Every update the company's legal staff makes to a template or legal boilerplate language automatically promulgates to all of its offices at the same time. There is no emailing updated information, following up to ensure it replaces the older information, then double-checking the language as the documents go through the approval process. The whole process is automated, more accurate and efficient.

Customer wins, revenue growth and international expansion mark successful 2011 for ActiveDocs

ABB, Boehringer Ingelheim and Royal Dutch Shell join growing ranks of companies automating document creation and template management with ActiveDocs Opus software.

Demand for ActiveDocs' document automation and template management solutions has driven blistering revenue growth, attracted marquee customers, and spurred worldwide expansion in 2011, the company announced today.

As of November, ActiveDocs' revenue is currently running 140 percent higher than it was for the same period in 2010. When the revenue stream is averaged out over the company's March-to-April fiscal year, ActiveDocs expects to see a 50 to 70 percent increase from the previous fiscal year. That marks a second year of torrid growth for ActiveDocs, which saw its revenues increase 40 percent between fiscal years 2009 and 2010.

Efficiency is always a prerogative in business, but it's even more important during slow economic times when profit margins are squeezed on every side,” said ActiveDocs CEO Glenn Ricketts. “Demand for ActiveDocs Opus has grown steadily as more and more companies realize what a drain document production is when it's done manually, and how simple, fast and accurate it is when it's automated.

The company's 2011 growth was driven by demand for their document automation and template management solutions in markets ranging from pharmaceuticals, to energy, to manufacturing, to technology, to financial services, to legal affairs and government. Major regional and global companies are among ActiveDocs' new customers. International energy company Royal Dutch Shell integrated ActiveDocs Opus Viper solution into its employee transfer management system in 2011 so it can automatically generate employment contracts and supporting documents. Global infrastructure and engineering giant ABB is using ActiveDocs Opus Viper to improve efficiency and reduce re-work in production of tender letters and related documents as part of an implementation that will extend to 90 countries when completed. Pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim chose ActiveDocs Opus to integrate with its contract management system, and plans to expand its implementation to include document template management in 2012.

To support its growth, ActiveDocs is expanding its European, North American and Pacific Rim operations and signing on new implementation partners. It has expanded its North American headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., and is hiring more staff in New Zealand and the U.S. The company has signed on European partners including Digia in Finland and Zarion in Ireland, while new Australian partners i2m in Melbourne and Efficiency Leaders in Brisbane will help ActiveDocs meet demand in the Pacific Rim countries. The company plans to expand its European presence with a new office in Belgium or Germany in the April/May 2012 time frame. Also early next year, in the January time frame, the company plans a major product announcement.

ActiveDocs Limited, world leaders in the provision of document automation applications, announced today that Florida law firm Marshall C. Watson P.A. has expanded its use of ActiveDocs Opus software to produce more than 3 million legal documents per year.

Marshall C. Watson's Web-based implementation enabled the firm to implement document automation software that has supported the company's growth to 900 users across five locations. ActiveDocs Opus replaces HotDocs as Marshall C. Watson's document automation solution. The firm's ActiveDocs Opus implementation encompasses more than 1,100 document templates that the software automatically populates from Marshall C. Watson's case management system and compiles into complicated documents such as real estate closings and titles. It also automatically stores the documents in a central repository for easy retrieval.

Glenn Ricketts, ActiveDocs CEO said: “There is no room for error in legal documents but plenty of opportunity. They are an ideal application for ActiveDocs Opus because we developed it to automate the largest and most complex documents to reduce every possible opportunity to make routine mistakes. Replacing manual searching, cutting and pasting with automated workflows eliminates simple but costly errors like using the wrong boilerplate, even with the large volume of documents that Marshall C. Major Canadian legal services firm cuts document production time with ActiveDocs Opus

One of Canada's largest civil enforcement agencies has chosen ActiveDocs Opus software to automate production of documents that support legal services ranging from property recovery to contract enforcement in all of the country's 10 provinces.

Consolidated Civil Enforcement chose the ActiveDocs software because its Web services functionality and back-end interfaces made it easy to integrate with the company's Microsoft SQL database. Consolidated had been using document automation software, but when the company wanted to automate more aggressively it faced the prospect of an expensive custom integration to develop an interface for this software to link to its back-end data systems. ActiveDocs' open database connectivity (ODBC) enabled Consolidated to easily integrate document automation with its SQL database to eliminate repetitive work that created opportunities for errors in legal documents. The back-end data integration is critical in the long term as Consolidated implements a new file management system that will house even more of the company's vital information in the SQL database.

ActiveDocs is part of a new system we're rolling out for meeting our recovery managers' needs, to help them process more documents in less time. To achieve that goal, we needed to tie our document production with our data systems,” said Steve Low, Consolidated Civil Enforcement's chief information officer. “HotDocs would have been expensive to integrate with our database, but ActiveDocs Opus solved this problem for us easily. Also, as we expand, we have found ActiveDocs' template creation to be faster and simpler than HotDocs. As a result, we have non-developers building templates and saving the company money.

Consolidated's database houses information needed to produce the thousands of warrants, writs and supporting documents that Consolidated's recovery managers need in the field. The company's 40 recovery managers choose a document template from the ActiveDocs Opus' interface, and the system automatically populates it with the client's name and contact information, property locations, etc. Much of the information contained in legal documents is repeated from one document to the next. ActiveDocs Opus' automation reduces the chance of errors by automatically retrieving the information for each new document. Accuracy is critical, Low said, because many of Consolidated's enforcement services involve seizing property and those cases can result in legal action.

Something as simple as transcribing information should never jeopardize an important legal proceeding. Not when it's so easy to automate that process with ActiveDocs Opus,” said Faine Mende, president of ActiveDocs North America. “Consolidated Civil Enforcement is demonstrating how important and easy it is to put the right resources in the right place by automating information retrieval. This frees their recovery managers to focus on the more important tasks which is invaluable.

About Consolidated Civil Enforcement

Consolidated Civil Enforcement is a Canadian company providing comprehensive civil enforcement and bailiff services. These include: personal property recovery, vehicle recovery, judgment recovery, sale of land, garnishment, document service, and others. Four-state health system simplifies patient correspondence with ActiveDocs document automation software

A behavioral health care company serving 5.3 million subscribers in Missouri, Arkansas, Florida and Kansas has replaced its current system for producing notification letters with ActiveDocs Opus document automation software.

New Directions Behavioral Health integrated ActiveDocs Opus with its customized OPTAMUM case management system to make producing notification letters part of existing workflows for tasks such as determining patient benefits. ActiveDocs Opus compiles letters automatically as users go through the workflows. The system selects from three templates then populates them from content in OPTAMUM and places them in a print queue for approval before they go to subscribers. ActiveDocs Opus' automation replaces a manual system consisting of 90 separate templates.

The number of templates and the variation in legal requirements between states and programs created too many opportunities for errors, according to New Directions Vice President Technology David Mauer. “We deal with many different health plans, each with specific regulatory requirements depending on the state where the plan is offered. ActiveDocs gives us the opportunity to customize letters and avoid errors, while reducing the time it takes to produce a letter.” Mauer said.

ActiveDocs Opus is document creation software built on Microsoft® technology. It facilitates the capture, assembly and delivery of content through a range of document channels, from hard copy, electronically or in a sophisticated presentation format. ActiveDocs Opus' integrated Template Design process ensures that documents are accurate, complete, consistent and professionally presented.

Healthcare is one of the most scrupulously regulated industries. There's no room for error or oversight,” said Faine Mende, president of ActiveDocs North America. “Automating the notification letter process for New Directions Behavioral Health will enable them to comply with regulatory requirements while lowering their overhead expenses.

Farm Credit Services of America adds flexibility to loan notifications with ActiveDocs Opus document creation solution; User-driven template management enables easy document modification

A regional division of the U.S.'s $186 billion farm credit network has streamlined its customer correspondence with ActiveDocs Opus document automation and template management software.

Omaha-based Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) is part of a nationwide network of lending institutions, chartered in 1917, that provides credit and insurance services to farmers, ranchers, agribusiness and rural residents. FCSAmerica is using ActiveDocs Opus to produce between 200 and 300 loan notification letters daily.

FCSAmerica chose ActiveDocs Opus because it enables business users to update document templates to comply with regulations without help from software developers. The software replaced FCSAmerica's in-house document production application, which required software developers to make all changes. In the coming months, all 42 FCSAmericas' offices in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Wyoming plan to transition to ActiveDocs Opus to produce all loan documentation including applications, certifications, loan agreements and truth-in-lending statements.

The previous system had the necessary functionality, but limited flexibility,” said Russ Wagner, director of application development for FCSAmerica. “We've had changes in government compliance regulations that require us to send letters to applicants when loans are approved or declined. The former system was all handwritten code so it took developer resources to make changes. We wanted to be able to define and automate document templates without involving developers.

ActiveDocs Opus is integrated with FCSAmerica's AgDirect Loan and Lease Origination System through a Web services interface. Opus automatically compiles letters, drawing from the necessary data sources, as FCSAmerica's staff work in their primary application. They can preview letters in a print queue before outputting a hard copy for the customer.

It's a very complete solution that fits smoothly into our Microsoft environment,” Wagner said. “From a capability standpoint, the automation and template design functions were the best option for us. ActiveDocs' Web services integration lined up well with our internal integration strategies, and we've received outstanding technical support from them as well.

ActiveDocs Opus is an integrated software suite that enables organizations to automate the creation of complex and critical business documents. Built on the Microsoft .NET framework, ActiveDocs Opus gives users total control over document templates and content.

Regulated environments are complicated places to do business. By simplifying document production and allowing front-line users to make routine changes, we're enabling FCSAmerica's IT staff to concentrate on more strategic priorities,” said Faine Mende, president of ActiveDocs North America.

About Farm Credit Services of America

Farm Credit Services of America is proud to finance the growth of rural America, including the special needs of young and beginning producers. With more than 92,000 customers and assets of more than $15.8 billion, FCSAmerica is one of the region's leading providers of credit and insurance services to farmers, ranchers, agribusiness and rural residents in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.

ActiveDocs integration means easy access from SharePoint at any time in the document automation process

ActiveDocs today made it easy to create and modify documents on the Microsoft® SharePoint® platform with a new ActiveDocs Opus SharePoint module that enables SharePoint and ActiveDocs Opus software to interoperate seamlessly within the same workflows.

The ActiveDocs Opus SharePoint module gives SharePoint users access to Opus document automation without leaving their SharePoint interface. When a SharePoint user needs to create or finalize a document stored in the SharePoint repository, ActiveDocs Opus recognizes the message coming from SharePoint through an extended web service. ActiveDocs Opus creates the document for the user through a wizard. Once the document is created or modified, the SharePoint workflows are invoked for routing or storage.

Using ActiveDocs Opus to create documents and SharePoint to store and route them for approval provides users with the simplest and most functional option for managing their documents. Having ActiveDocs Opus available throughout approval and revision cycles also retains the complex business logic that ActiveDocs Opus enables users to apply to documents. If Opus were not integrated into SharePoint workflows, users would either lose that business logic or they would need IT to create SharePoint applications to retain it.

SharePoint is expanding as a document management platform, but creating and modifying documents in SharePoint can require back-end application development that many companies don't have the resources for,” said Faine Mende, president of ActiveDocs North America. “Our ActiveDocs Opus SharePoint module lets users move seamlessly between ActiveDocs Opus document creation and SharePoint document management. They get the best of each solution.

ActiveDocs Salesforce.com integration now available with easy-to-use Data View architecture – automating data extraction from disparate sources with ActiveDocs Opus Data View makes document creation faster and easier

A new custom Salesforce.com web service is now available that automatically inserts Salesforce.com data into sales proposals and agreements created with ActiveDocs Opus software. It is the first to take advantage of Opus' unique Data View architecture, which is designed to make document creation faster, easier and more accurate through automated information gathering.

Data View enables Opus users to create custom web services that take advantage of standard web services provided by other systems, such as Salesforce.com, to pull data and insert it into required documents like contracts, agreements and sales proposals. This also means multiple data sources, both internal and external to the company, can be used for a single document.

The complete document creation scenario can be performed within Salesforce.com. With simple Salesforce.com setup, a user can click a button to create a sales proposal using the ActiveDocs Opus document creation wizard. The document is created, the data is pulled into the document, then it is passed seamlessly back to Salesforce.com. More than simply merging data into a document, the template can contain business logic controlling the required content. Got a customer from California' The correct clause can be included dynamically. ActiveDocs Opus users can also use Data View to set up and produce a variety of documents using the same Salesforce.com record and web service without further IT involvement.

Giving sales teams the ability to easily create documents with confidential and propriety content across multiple company divisions has a direct impact on companies' bottom lines,” said Faine Mende, president of ActiveDocs North America. “It makes sales forces more agile because they can respond to opportunities faster and in more detail than competitors. At the same time, the company still maintains control over its content because people are not accessing the information systems directly, but through a web service.

Washington State Department of Ecology makes water use permitting airtight with ActiveDocs Opus document automation software

The agency responsible for allocating the state of Washington's water rights is using the ActiveDocs Opus document automation system to reduce permitting errors and bring greater efficiency and consistency to its permitting process, ActiveDocs announced today.

Washington State's Department of Ecology Water Resources Program is responsible for allocating all of the state's publicly controlled surface and ground water. The department issues permits to cities, farms, industries and others that define when and how much water can be withdrawn. Employees at the Water Resources Program are implementing ActiveDocs to replace a manual permit creation system that forced users to search through multiple systems for site information then transcribe that data into permits and e-mails. Errors were easy to make and hard to catch with the old system, according to Environmental Planner Jeff Marti of the State's Water Resources Program.

When you're keying in combinations of letters and numbers that define locations and other details, mistakes don't jump out at you,” Marti said. “The ramifications of errors are serious. We have had cases where documents have not clearly described the permit conditions and the permit holder thought they were allocated more water than they actually were. That can end up in court. With ActiveDocs Opus we can now add legal language, site descriptions, permit conditions, etc. without leaving the document creation environment.

Because our permits are issued by region offices located in different areas of the state, it is essential that we have a way to engineer that each office is using the same language and content in the documents we create. The ActiveDocs content manager makes that possible,” Marti said.

ActiveDocs Opus enables the Water Resource Program's 43 users to import information directly into permit templates and e-mails without having to exit documents. Easy-to-follow wizards lead users through the document creation process, displaying query windows for bringing in information without requiring the user to search for it manually.

There is no logic in forcing skilled professionals to do low-value work like searching for basic information manually,” said Faine Mende, president, ActiveDocs North America. “The Washington State Water Resources Program has increased accuracy while virtually eliminating low-skill work. Risks have decreased and now their staff can concentrate on the value-added tasks that are worthy of their skills and training.

ActiveDocs announces technology partnership with Nintex: mutual SharePoint focus allows leading workflow and document automation products to be combined for best-of-breed content management solutions

ActiveDocs Limited, world leaders in the provision of document automation applications, announced today that they have entered into a partnership with Nintex, to market a comprehensive SharePoint-based solution that uses Nintex Workflow to direct ActiveDocs Opus document creation/modification and template management.

The whole purpose of workflow is to streamline standard business activities, and documents are often an integral part of that,” said Mike Fitzmaurice, vice president of product technology at Nintex. “Partnering with ActiveDocs gives customers seamless document creation and automation components within workflows. For example, they can request to have a document created, ensure that it contains specific content, and then have it routed for approval -- all with a single click.

Nintex Workflow 2010 adds a drag-and-drop workflow designer, a toolbox of over 100 workflow activities, and advanced workflow management features to the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 platform. Business users and IT professionals alike are empowered to quickly and easily create, deploy, manage, and understand workflow processes from simple leave approval requests to complex integration across external applications and data sources.

ActiveDocs Opus enables Nintex Workflow users to incorporate document automation into SharePoint workflows, eliminating the need to go outside the SharePoint environment to create supporting documentation. ActiveDocs wizards will automatically launch at the right point in the process using templates stored in SharePoint and managed with ActiveDocs.

When you're in the midst of a business process, you don't want to be jumping to another application to create a document then jump back in to send it to the next person in the process. Users prefer to stay in one place with all the necessary functions available to them in a familiar environment,” said Faine Mende, president, ActiveDocs North America. “Our document automation technology will serve up to Nintex Workflow users the most accurate, up-to-date templates and populate them with information from any data source in the network without ever requiring users to leave SharePoint.

The implementation will see ActiveDocs Opus Viper integrated with an Oracle portal system for interactive document generation and an OpenText Document Management System for document retention. The integration will allow users to quickly and easily create precise documents on demand while working within their existing applications and using data directly from those applications. The implementation has involved teams from ActiveDocs, ETK, Cap Gemini and other third parties.

Paul Di Leo, ActiveDocs VP Business Development EMEA: “It has been a delight to work with ETK, and the third party teams, through a Proof Of Concept process to implement an integrated solution for ETK's document generation requirements. ActiveDocs has a well-developed process for assisting organisations like ETK through a Proof Of Concept project to evaluate the product as part of their own infrastructure, with appropriate assistance from ActiveDocs Client Services. We are pleased to see the process proven once again for ETK and we appreciate their informed recognition of the powerful features and benefits of the ActiveDocs Opus platform.

Australia's Regis Group uses ActiveDocs Opus to automate complex resident intake documentation

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document automation applications, today announced that Regis Group, operator of 42 elderly care facilities throughout Australia, has chosen ActiveDocs Opus to automate resident intake documentation.

Regis Group's Opus implementation will reduce transcription and clerical mistakes that can cause errors and affect a resident's admission to a facility, transfer to a new facility, or the level of government subsidy they receive for care. ActiveDocs Opus' ability to integrate with a wide range of systems and incorporate calculations and workflows into documents will automate much of the information gathering required to create an accurate patient record.

Skip Dostine, ActiveDocs VP Business Development Australia said: “Elder residential care is complex in Australia. There are many government regulations to observe. To a great extent, compliance relies on how accurately intake staff can create individuals' personal histories and transcribe their personal financial data. There are many variables and opportunities for error in that process. Regulations and legal language changes from one state to the next, and a simple cut-and-paste error can subject the company to regulatory penalties. ActiveDocs Opus' automated information gathering and embedded intelligence will reduce the time and cost of creating documentation, and protect Regis Group from errors that can turn into penalties.

Aizkraukles Banka Latvija upgrades ActiveDocs Opus to allow for Automated Mode Document Production

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document automation applications, announced today that Aizkraukles Banka Latvija has added ActiveDocs Opus Automated Document Production (ADP) functionality to their existing implementation.

The new implementation allows the bank's existing systems to integrate with ActiveDocs Opus for automated generation of up to one million documents per annum.

Nick Chivers, ActiveDocs VP European Operations said: “The processing systems at the heart of banks' IT infrastructure cannot easily be replaced, yet their document generation capabilities can be limited and difficult to upgrade and update in a timely manner to respond to internal or external requirements. The ActiveDocs Opus platform is designed for sophisticated integration, allowing the product's extensive capabilities to be utilised by existing systems. ActiveDocs is NOT affected by the Court Ruling over Microsoft's use of Custom XML in Word

On September 22 2009 a United States Federal Appeals Court upheld a finding that Microsoft Word's 'Custom XML' feature infringed a Canadian software company's patent. Microsoft was required to remove the Custom XML feature from new copies of Word sold in the US from January 11 2010, and to pay significant damages.

ActiveDocs has always based its Document Automation solutions on Microsoft Word, from the original Desktop product, through the groundbreaking Enterprise server-based application, to the latest generation server-based ActiveDocs Opus. ActiveDocs Opus uses Microsoft Word for Template Design because Word has superior document formatting and styling capabilities and ActiveDocs sees no good reason for forcing business users to learn to use other markup applications for designing templates. ActiveDocs Opus creates Word documents on the server and uses Word for sophisticated and high-performance format conversion and delivery.

These solutions do not use Word's Custom XML feature and are not affected by the removal of Custom XML from Word.

Major legal firm implements ActiveDocs Opus fully integrated with Interwoven Worksite (iManage)

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document automation applications, announced today that AJ Park, a major legal firm based in Wellington, New Zealand, has integrated ActiveDocs Opus with Interwoven’s Worksite (iManage) document management system for all of its correspondence generation.

The seamless integration allows desktop users of Microsoft Word to select and run ActiveDocs Opus Templates via a pop-up instance of the ActiveDocs Opus Document Wizard which renders the selected Template as an easy form-based interview. The completed document is then stored in Worksite and reloaded into the user’s Microsoft Word session.

AJ Park previously used the ActiveDocs Desktop solution with similar integration. The priorities for upgrading to the ActiveDocs Opus server-based system were to minimise changes to users’ workflow and to preserve the firm’s considerable investment in Templates. Integration has been achieved with a minimum of custom development effort, utilising the extensive capabilities of ActiveDocs Opus web services and the enhanced ActiveDocs Opus Document Wizard to ensure that users’ expectations have been met and exceeded. All of AJ Park’s existing ActiveDocs Desktop Templates were migrated directly to ActiveDocs Opus through the product’s purpose-built migration tools.

Dale Lang, AJ Park’s Information Systems Manager, said: “Opus provides a modern browser based environment for our staff to create their documents, without taking away our ability to control the content of our documents. It enables us to take advantage of the xml functionality in Word 2007 so that we will be able to reduce the number of clippings or snippets as they are known in Opus. It was key to our business that we could integrate Opus with Worksite, and this has also enabled us to move from a pre-profiling document environment to a post profiling environment. The profiling of a document is now hidden from our users and can be controlled by the data they have entered into the Opus template. Little training has been required. It's extremely intuitive and staff are finding it easy to use.”

Catherine Larsen, ActiveDocs VP Business Development APAC, said: “Like all good legal firms AJ Park needs to maintain comprehensive control over document creation, storage, and retrieval, while meeting the demand for accurate and up to date content combined with personalised correspondence and context-based variance. The success of their upgrade from ActiveDocs Desktop to ActiveDocs Opus is a testament to AJ Park’s investment in their processes and ActiveDocs Templates, and to ActiveDocs’ continuing investment in our product, its integration capabilities, and ease of upgrade.”

Cleary Hoare, an Australian legal firm with offices in Brisbane and Sydney, has launched a new service aimed at its Legal Resource Club, a network of 1200 Accountants and Financial Planners based on the ActiveDocs Enterprise document automation application and using Cleary Hoare's complex document sets (templates). The service is a hosted/ASP application where existing customers can access a large repository of complex documents which have been automated with the ActiveDocs suite and, once authenticated, can create individual documents based on input information. On completion the document is assembled in real time and can be downloaded as a Microsoft® Word document.

Glenn Ricketts, Chief Executive Officer of ActiveDocs said "What is exciting about Cleary Hoare's implementation is that, to my knowledge, this is one of the first fully automated and hosted services of this nature. This service, where valuable IP in the form of highly complex documents is offered to clients so they can quickly and easily produce a finished document is unique. We are very excited to be associated with Cleary Hoare in this endeavor."

Paul Olds of Cleary Hoare stated "This system allows us to provide complex documents such as Trusts and Wills to our network in real time no matter what their geographical location. The accountant or financial planner who generally recommends and orders these types of documents for their clients no longer needs to wait for traditional service providers to produce a hard copy of the document, with the standard delivery mechanism being post. The system ActiveDocs has developed for us also eliminates the serious and common problem of clients losing final documents, as our solution includes a database of created documents, plus the client's adviser saves an electronic version directly to their client file. The database also provides us with the ability to effectively manage version control and to contact clients who require document updates due to legislative change, which is critical for quality control purposes."
